What exactly are Sun Blushed Tomatoes?

I have never heard of them and want to know exactly what they are, are they a variety of tomatoe? please helpWhat exactly are Sun Blushed Tomatoes?
They are delicious! You can ofen buy them in jars which are also full of olive oil.

Drain this off....mix with some cherry tomatoes, chop up into very small pieces....add a little basil......add some balsamic vinegar if you like and then put on baked slices of ciabatta bread.

(If you live in the UK you can often find the sunblush tomatoes at the deli counter....I buy mine from Tescos....lovely!!!)What exactly are Sun Blushed Tomatoes?
I loved cooking with sun-blushed tomatoes. They''re also called semi-sun-dried tomatoes. They''re very similar to sun-dried, but much sweeter and less chewy, and I normally found them packed in olive oil.
It's when the sun goes in and moons the tomatoes and they get embraced. This embarrassment gives the tomato a very distinctive flavour although producers have been critisied for by fruit rights groups.

Hang on no, I got confused it is actually like everyone else says, they are left in the sun. ; )
Kissed by the sun-----or sundried tomatoes.....delicious.
Tomatos that have been blushed by the sun.
They're like sundried, but they aren't as dry and chewy.

If you can't find them - like I oculdn't for a Nigella recipe - you can easilt make your own and have them on hand. They keep well in a jar.

Ingredients

18 ripe plum tomatoes

sea salt

6 cloves garlic, crushed with a little salt

8 tbsp chopped oregano

freshly ground black pepper

extra virgin olive oil

Method

1. Preheat the oven to the lowest heat setting. Slice the tomatoes in half horizontally and scoop out most of the seeds. Salt the insides and turn cut side down on a wire cake tray - leave for half an hour, then rinse and dry.

2. Mix the crushed garlic with the oregano and black pepper. Spread this mix over the cut side of the tomatoes. Place the tomatoes cut side up in a roasting tray and dribble over olive oil into the tray. Cook in a low oven at 100C/200F/Gas 1 for three hours or leave in the sun for up to two days, taking them in at night.

3. Place the tomatoes in a sterilized kilner jar and cover with extra virgin oil. Use in any recipe that requires sun-dried tomatoes.

Ingredients

12 British classic or large plum tomatoes

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon brown sugar

陆 teaspoon sea salt flakes

a good twist of ground black pepper

Try these rich, oily, home roast tomatoes instead of sundried. They are delicious mixed into salads, pasta and casseroles or chopped into sauces or dressings.

Pre-heat the oven to 190掳C/375掳F/gas mark 5.

Cut the tomatoes into quarters and arrange in a single layer in a shallow roasting tin. Toss in the oil, sugar, salt and pepper.

Roast in the oven for 1陆 to 2 hours turning from time to time. They are ready when reduced, deep red and just beginning to char. For a 'sun blushed' effect remove the tomatoes from the oven a little earlier.

Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to two weeks.
